Wolverhampton born and bred; sports fanatic Amber Sandhu got her big break covering the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games for BBC Midlands Today. Before that, the sports science graduate and keen footballer and cricketer had been working on BBC Radio West Midlands and providing match reports for BBC Sport.
Following the Commonwealth Games, Amber was scouted by Sky Sports and now covers Aston Villa and her beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers – from press conferences and manager interviews to pitch side reporting for Sky Sports News. She also reports across the FA channels covering the WSL and Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
Alongside a passion for men’s and women’s football, Amber has also reported live from ICC men’s and women’s cricket, including The Hundred for the BBC, presenting sit down interviews with players.
Amber is a seasoned radio broadcaster with extensive experience across the BBC. She hosted her own high-energy Saturday afternoon show on BBC Asian Network and regularly covered the news-led drive show from Monday to Thursday.
She regularly presents the Saturday Breakfast show on BBC Radio 5 Live, bringing together the biggest news and sports stories alongside previews of the weekend’s action.
