
James Richardson is a hugely popular broadcaster whose work continues to span European football’s finest leagues.
Amongst football fans, James is perhaps best known for presenting Football Italia - Channel 4’s iconic coverage of Italian football. He spent 10 high calorie years roaming the peninsula, covering what was then the world’s most glamorous football league.
Currently, James is the host of one of the most popular and respected football podcasts, The Totally Football Show with James Richardson for The Athletic. For over a decade, James has also been the lead presenter of Channel 5’s highest-rating show, The World’s Strongest Man.
In 2025, James had the honour of presenting The Grand Sumo Tournament at the Royal Albert Hall, which proved to be a huge success, garnering a legion of new fans to the sport.
Previously, James worked for TNT Sport and the Premier League, and also fronted The Great Model Railway Challenge for Channel 4. Prior to Totally Football, James co-founded the Guardian’s hugely successful Football Weekly podcast.
A keen student of cinema and languages, James speaks Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and a little Japanese, and plays ice hockey—very badly.
