LAURA HAMILTON
Laura Hamilton is a TV presenter, property & travel expert, and entrepreneur.
She is probably best known for presenting Channel 4’s A Place in The Sun, where she has cemented her place for over a decade, travelling Europe helping house hunters find the property of their dreams. Laura has also presented several shows for ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5, including Beat My Build, which saw participants renovating their projects and competing against each other to win a cash prize, Cowboy Builders and Bodge Jobs for Channel 5, as well as five series of Fort Boyard for ITV.
Laura is currently a regular face on ITV’s This Morning, presenting live features and competitions, as well her own mini-series Laura Hamilton's Unique Homes, showcasing quirky converted properties.
Her TV career began age 18 as a runner for Channel 4. She worked for 4 years behind the scenes before getting her first on-screen role in the pre-school show Fun Song Factory. She then became the female face of kids’ TV channel Nickelodeon.
Always keen to embark on a challenge, Laura took part in the first series of The Jump, just four weeks after the birth of her first child, Rocco. Laura was also runner-up on the popular ITV series Dancing on Ice, where she wowed audiences with her headbanger. It is fair to say Laura embraces any challenge she is faced with and it’s no surprise she is now following in her father’s footsteps to get her private pilot's license.
Whilst starting out in TV, Laura also found a passion for property. With her entrepreneurial side, she knew she had to have another career alongside television and property was just that. She renovated her first flat age 19 and has developed 16 properties to date. This includes her first commercial venture, Lord Roberts on The Green. Laura rescued her local village shop; she qualified as the local postmistress, set up the coffee shop and bistro, recruited 24 staff and built the brand. She became a landlady and got an alcohol license for the premises and created a local gem in her community. Laura has since sold Lord Roberts on The Green.
Laura recently completed the renovation on her current home, knocking down every wall in the property, which comes with its own folly, future proofed it with solar panels, and added an air source heat pump. Laura filmed the process for her YouTube channel calling it The Rebuild Project.
Laura is an ITP sufferer and, since discovering she had this autoimmune disease, she is proud to offer support and advice to any fellow sufferers. She is also an ambassador for the charities WellChild and the Children’s Trust, Tadworth.
Laura is a dedicated mum to her two children, Rocco and Tahlia, and is happy, positive and passionate about life!
