Shakaila Forbes-Bell is a Fashion Psychologist, presenter and author.

Shakaila became the first Black person in the world to earn a master’s degree in fashion psychology. Her research surrounded the underrepresentation of Black models in fashion media, it’s impact on consumer behaviour and the self-concept. Her paper would go on to be published in the International Journal of Market Research.

After she founded her platform ‘Fashion is Psychology’, Shakaila went on to write her best seller ‘Big Dress Energy’, a book which uses her research and expertise to empower people to transform their wardrobe.

Shakaila is becoming a regular feature on TV as a fashion psychology expert, with two recent appearances on ITV’s This Morning in their styling segment, discussing the importance of colour theory and it’s effect on our self-confidence, dressing to improve your mood and sharing the scientific research behind her styling tips. She has also appeared on Lorraine as well as Channel 5’s ‘Britain’s Poshest Designer Outlet’ and ‘TK Maxx: How Do They Do It?’.

Shakaila is an exceptional writer and has been featured in the likes of The Guardian, Stylist, CNN and Gal-Dem. Her work has also been published in Vogue, Marie Claire, i-D, The Times and Grazia. She is regularly called on for comment and expert insight into trends, sustainability research and representation in the fashion industry. She has also worked and provided psychologically focused PR, branding and marketing advice to international brands including Next, Tu Clothing and Stylist.

Successfully building an impactful social media presence, Shakaila creates highly engaging content across Instagram and TikTok. She is also a brand ambassador for Afterpay and is regularly called on to work with consumer and fashion brands.

Shakaila lives in London and outside of fashion and psychology, has a passion for photography, culture and travel.
